HISTORY SCHOOL TRIPS TO SINGAPORE

 

Get a glimpse into Singapore’s history as we stride through historical sites to discover more about the country’s colourful and fascinating traditions.

Singapore History Tour Program

Day 1: Arrival Singapore
Upon arrival in Singapore, our English speaking guide will be there to welcome and assist the group with coach transfer and check-in at the hotel. Welcome dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 Battlebox / National Museum / Supreme Court / Chinatown
Our first visit this morning we visit the Battle Box. A former underground command bunker centre 9 meters below ground in Fort Canning Park, the Battlebox was built in 1936 and was part of the Malaya command headquarters during the battle for Singapore during World War 2. Students will learn about the fall of Malaya and Singapore in WWII, and how an underground command centre of 26 rooms functioned during the war. In 1945 when the Japanese surrender back to the British & Allied forces, the bunker was sealed off. The Battle Box reopened to the public on the 15th of February 1997, exactly 55 years after the fall of Singapore.

We then proceed to the National Museum of Singapore as we discover 700 years of Singapore’s history. With a history dating back to its inception in 1887, the National Museum of Singapore is the nation’s oldest museum. Its galleries adopt cutting edge and multi-perspective ways of presenting history and culture to redefine conventional museum experience.

Following this is a visit to the Singapore Supreme Court. The Learning Court is an interactive learning space that provides students a delightful and dynamic learning experience about the Singapore court system and the Supreme Court through multimedia re-enactment and role play with audience participation. Students will take a guided tour and gain an insight into Singapore’s legal system throughout this tour.

Our final visit is to the historic district of Chinatown an area rich in cultural heritage and tradition. Developed in the early 19th century by Chinese immigrants, Chinatown is home to preserved shop houses, bustling markets, and religious landmarks. During our walking tour, we learn about Buddhist beliefs and the influence of Chinese traditions in Singaporean. Will visit the Chinatown Heritage Centre along with the Buddha Relic Temple, This majestic place of worship is a repository of Buddhist wisdom and relics and is home to an artefact of religious reverence.

Day 3 Parliament House / National Gallery / Cable Car / Fort Siloso / Images of Singapore / Madame Tussauds Singapore / Lau Pa Sat Centre
We start our day with a guided tour of one of the most important and significant landmarks of the city, Parliament house and City Hall (National Gallery)

Parliament house Singapore. Students will take a in-house guided tour through the corridors of history and find out the origins of Singapore’s Parliament. Learn about Singapore’s parliamentary system, the roles and functions of parliament, and how laws are made.

We then proceed next door to visiting the National Gallery. The Gallery showcases more than 8,000 pieces from Singapore’s National Collection, making it one of the world’s largest and most invaluable public collections of Singapore and Southeast Asian modern art from the 19th century to the present day.

Following this is a ride on the Mount Faber Cable Car which offers a breathtaking aerial journey from lush hilltop greenery to the vibrant shores of Sentosa Island. Students will glide over Keppel Harbour in sleek gondolas, taking in panoramic views of the city, coastline, and iconic landmarks like the Merlion and Marina Bay. It’s not just a scenic ride—it’s a thrilling introduction to Singapore’s seamless blend of nature.

Our first visit on Sentosa Island is to Fort Siloso which is Singapore’s only well-preserved coastal fort that served as part of the country’s defences. The on-site military museum contains a treasure trove of WWII memorabilia, including coastal guns, the remains of fortified military structures and tunnels, as well as an interactive video documentary, complete with wax figures of Japanese & British soldiers at the Surrender Chambers. Prior to the the visit to Fort Siloso ,we enjoy the Fort Siloso skywalk. Embark on a scenic treetop trail that is 11 storeys above ground and 181 meters long walk en-route to the historic Fort Siloso.

We then proceed to Images of Singapore. Embark on a journey through 200 years of history! From a humble fishing village to a 21st century powerhouse through special effects and immersive theming.

Next door we visit to Madame Tussauds Singapore, experience one of Singapore’s best-loved attractions. Get up close and personal with more than 80 unique celebrity wax figures from Asia, Hollywood, Bollywood and beyond, and celebrate local iconic sights onboard the “Spirit of Singapore”, Madame Tussauds first ever boat ride. You can also star in immersive experiences, walk the red carpet, fight alongside Marvel Super Heroes in our Marvel Universe 4D cinema, and so much more.

Our final visit is to Lau Pa Sat Centre.  Experience true hawker culture housed within Singapore’s most iconic hawker market – Lau Pa Sat. Find all of Singapore’s local hawker favourites under one roof, alongside 6 Michelin-mentioned brands and the very best of Singapore and International dishes from over 80 stalls. We then proceed back to the hotel.

Day 4 HDB Heartlands Town / Singapore Discovery Centre / Night Safari Zoo
This morning we will be visiting a HDB Heartlands Town in Singapore. On this unique walking Public Housing Tour – Into the HDB Heartlands in Singapore, students will leave behind the glitzy centre of Singapore and explore the housing estates where majority of Singaporeans live. On this tour, you’ll learn all about these developments and the lives of the people who call them home. See how HDB heartlanders eat, shop, travel, play and relax in this very typical HDB town centre.

We then proceed to the Singapore Discovery Centre. Find out about the past, present and future of Singapore in an interactive, hands-on immersive experience. The integrated themes provide a multi-sensory experiences where you learn about our history and the exciting plans in store for Singapore.

Our final visit is to the Night Safari Zoo. The worlds first wildlife park built for visits at night, the night safari is not like any ordinary zoo. Nestled in 40 hectares of lush secondary forest, the Night Safari offers the unique experience of exploring wildlife in a tropical jungle at night. Enjoy an exciting Expedition Tram which travel’s deep into the domain of the world’s most fascinating nocturnal animals. Prior to the tram enjoy a farewell buffet dinner at Ulu Ulu restaurant.

Day 5: Jewel Changi / Departure
We check-out of the hotel and transfer to Changi International Airport.
The group will head on a tour of Jewel Changi Airport first. Your guide will introduce you to the fascinating sights of the airport, including the Crystal Clouds, HSBC Rain Vortex and Shiseido Forest Valley.
